We had our big street hockey tournament this weekend. This tournament is Cassie Campbell's brainchild and each year she hosts it for RMHSA. Cassie had been a volunteer at the house-a few years back she came to the board and presented the idea of doing a tournament as a fundraiser for the house. She told them we could maybe raise 10,ooo bucks for the house. Boy was she ever wrong-last year after expenses it raised over $209,000 for the house. This year Cassie invited Mr. Hockey to be her special guest at the tournament. What a nice guy, Gordie Howe is 80 but the guy still shakes you hand with a grip that could crush a beer can. Gordie spent a lot more time than he had promised taking photos with kids and thier parents at the Family festival on Saturday. Henry Burris quarterback for the Stampeder's played in the celebrity game-another really nice guy. A very articulate well mannered man. The guy is so socially engaging -his personna is like his personal job is to make sure everyone around him has a great time. There is more infomation on our website about the event. Thanks again to the organizing committee and to Cassie who work year round to make this event a great weekend for all the players and the sponsors.

Past 15000
March15-326,Mar16-0,Mar17-100,Mar18-100,Mar19-0,Mar20-100,Mar21-361 total =15699.
Past the 15k goal-guess the next goal is 25k. I'm going to try to get to this one a little quicker. Still a little busy at work and home -but at least trying to get the 100 minimum in on most days-keeps the total moving up.
Moved families into the new Ronald McDonald House this week 30,000 square feet is way bigger than our old building. My daughters wedding is two weeks away.It will be nice to take sometime away from work and spend some time with firends and family during all of the activities.

getting close to 15000
April/10-260,Apr/11-0,April12-350,April13-0,Apr/14-288, total push ups and chins-14712
Well not a bad week-but not a great one for push ups/chins. Fairly busy at work -I am going to try to get a minimum of 100 push ups or chins in a day-even if it is a really crazy day. 14k is still a long way from a million. This week I should be able to post some better numbers

This is a photo of the new Magic Room in the Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta. The shot doesn't quite do the room justice. Any child who is staying at the house and : completes chemo, has a bone marrow transplant, birthday or other significant life event, gets to take a trip to the magic room. The child enters the room and crosses a small bridge. They wave a magic wand and the door with the star magically opens. Behind these doors there is a throne in which we have the child sit. We have a magic cart which holds various magic tricks-so our staff/volunteers can do a little magic show for the child. Afterwards we hand them a key the size of a small childs arm. The key opens a door to the left and the child enters another small room filled with shelves of new toys. Essentially the child gets to pick any toy they want as a gift from the supporters of Ronald McDonald House. A number of corporate donors, church groups, schools etc donate new toys to replenish the Magic Room stores. In the current house our magic room is more like a toy closet-however each month -about twenty kids get to take a trip to the toy closet. In the new house we will serve many more kids and their families so-there will be much more magic handed out to kids at the new Ronald McDonald House.
