Well I guess 50k is the next big goal. Some good days -some low totals. Haven't checked my weight in a while so I don't know how the lossing 30 lbs thing is going. Mostly haven't checked my weight-because I have been on the road a lot with work and eating mostly crap-Maybe Jenny Craig and her boxes of crap -isn't such a bad idea.

On second thought

On second thought I have decided to scrap the squats. Not that I will stop doing them. I am just going to stop counting them. One obsessive goal at a time.
I just read an article on MSN titled what would you pay to lose 30 lbs. It starts like this:
Despite studies saying North Americans are getting fatter every year, people are obsessed with weight loss, and the business of losing weight has ballooned into a $46.3 billion industry. How much would you be willing to spend to lose 30 pounds?
The article rates various diet programs and what it would cost to complete a 30 pound weight loss. The article starts by rating Jenny Craig at about $400 and ends with the Zone at about 4 grand. I kind of think they have underestimated J.C-I think you have to buy all her boxed meals to start and I don't know that they calculated in these costs. Anyway I don't buy it-I think you can get the "get off your *ss program for free. I haven't lost a lot of weight with the push ups/chins but I am willing to bet I can-Here it is 207.5 pounds today. I am not sure I can get down too 177.5 ( or sure I want to ) but lets see what push ups can do for free.

McHappy Day

Yesterday was McHappy day. On McHappy Day $1 from each Happy Meal, Big Mac and Breakfast sandwich is donated to children's charities. The Houses get a good portion of these donations, along with other charities throughout Canada.This year the owner/operators are directing a larger proportion of these revenues towards the two houses in Alberta as Calgary has just doubled in size and Edmonton is just beginning a large capital campaign to build a very large addition. I had the opportunity to drive around in the limo/bus to a number of the McDonalds locations. The bus was filled with McDonalds staff, families who had used the house and celebritities. Local media were in attendence at the locations,serving up breakfast,and lunch. One of the things that is great about working with the Houses is that you get to meet the most interesting people. Cindy Klaussen was on the limo bus with us all day. Cindy won 6 Olympic medals in the Turin games. Cindy is very well spoken, engaging and well mannered. It always takes me by surprise to meet someone as accomplished as an Olympic athlete like Cindy (I have a really cool job -I get to meet a couple of Olympic athletes and people highly accomplished in other areas of life)-I am not sure if I won an Olympic medal -if I could contain my pride as well as she does. God I would be wearing the damn things with me everywhere. I would probably look like Mr T wearing six olympic medals aroung my neck -everywhere I went. Hey are those things waterproof-I'd probably wear them in the shower

I missed a couple of days of push ups on the weekend-but I had a really good reason.
My oldest daughter got married on the weekend. She looked so beautiful- I could not have been more proud. The ceremony and reception were fantastic. Our little girl will always be "our little girl" but we are so proud of what an accomplished woman she has become in so many ways. Stephanie's new husband is Travis. Travis never seemed like on of the boyfriends-he always seemed like part of the family. We were also proud to welcome him to the family. It was great to see our little girl laugh and cry and have what appeared to be the best day of her life. Many more are to come.

Adding some squats

I have decided that a slightly more rounded program is in order. I am going to do a million hindu squats or deep knee bends as they were refered to in High School P.E. class. Hindu squats sounds a little racially insensitive and politically incorrect. Even though they are refered to as hindu squats on the internet- from now on I will just refer to them as squats. The squats get my heart rate up and the breathing going. Sets of 30 to 50 are not to hard. I figure this will burn a few more calories and get some lower body fitness happening.
The push ups don't seem to be making me drop any significant weight. I was down to around 200 -now I am back to hovering around 208. My percentage of bodyfat is staying in the same place so I suppose that means I have gained lean body mass. So overall not a bad thing.
