calories adjusted

Feb23-190 total push ups and chins 73,219
weight 202.5 %bf 20
calories left to burn 61250

If you notice above the calories left to burn jumped way back up. I didn't eat 20,000 or so calories in the last couple of days. I have just re calibrated the calories left to burn. When I started counting calories I was trying to get down to 185 lbs. I had figured out how many extra calories I would need to burn to get there. I must be systematically underestimating how much I eat as I enter it into fitday( or how much I am burning) as the amount left to burn would have suggested I should have lost more weight. I have recalulated the number left to burn from where I am at now (202.5) pounds. Elbows seem to have recovered from my 1000 push ups day so I should be able to start posting some bigger daily numbers again.

Roller Coaster

Well the roller coaster dips down again, weight and bf dropped back down. Can't say I am eating the most balance diet the last couple of days, however most nights the calories eaten is a little lower than the calories burned. Elbows are still a little sore from the 1000 push ups day, but getting back to normal. Would like to try for another 1000 day-maybe this weekend. After doing a day with 1000 -400 seems psychologically and physically like no big deal.

34 inches

I have been doing the 35 days to 1000 push ups workout, and yesterday I thought I would just go for it-see if I could do 1000 in a day. I did a little over 200 first thing in the morning and then periodically through out the day I would do a set or two of 25's. I was able to do 1000 by the end of the day. Shoulders are a little sore today -but not that bad.

Cathy got me a gift bag full of stuff for valentines. When I opened it she pushed a pair of jeans into my hands and told me to go try them on right away. My first thought was these are some girly jeans that I won't want to wear or anything. When I tried them on they seemed pretty normal. I didn't get it until I went back out to show Cathy the jeans. She asked me if I had noticed that they were a 34 waist. I hadn't -for a lot of people a 34 waist would not be all that exciting-however for most of my adult life I have worn a 38-or 40 waist. The last year I have worn a 36 waist. Melissa my daughter says the old jeans could fit two asses so I suppose it is time for the 34's-well hello 34.

Had pizza with the kids on Friday and the weight seems to have popped up as a result. Overall the progress seems to be good.

Childhood dreams

Since Vegas/Christmas I have burned enough calories to have lost a little over 9 pounds. I am not down under 200 yet so I must be fudging the fitday numbers a bit..Nonetheless I look a little leaner. The way the numbers bounce up and down on the tanita scale I could be plus or minus a few pounds or a few percent of bodyfat. The mirror seems to think I am getting thinner. A couple of years back I lost a more than 50 pounds in a year by tracking the calories and doing lots of chin ups and push ups. The bodyweight fluctuated up and down then as well- so no need to panic I suppose.

My daughter,Steph, sent me the link below:
http://www.oprah.com/health/oz/oz_20071022_350_106.jhtml

It is a video segment by Professor Randy Pausch. It is quite inspirational. It was a segment on facing death. Professor Pausch is faving terminal cancer and his philosophy of facing death is really a philosophy to live by. Made me want to run home and hug my wife and kids. Kind of puts all your little problems in prospective.

Closing in on 70k

Closing in one the 70k push ups/chin ups mark. Still doing the 1000 push ups in 35 days program and he armstrong chin ups program. Weights has become a bit of a family routine.Cathy and I do some weights 5 days a week. Usually our youngest Joey will join us most days. Emma will perodically join us and Steph or Mel will do a workout if they are in town (usually once or twice a week). Chin ups and push ups are on top of that-trying to burn as many calories as I can. I havent lost a lot of weight as far as the scales are concerned but more people are starting to ask if I have lost weight-so I guess the progress is starting to become visable. I am really determined to complete the 1000 push ups routine. Kind of a mental barrier kind of thing. Anyway the pounds are coming down and the percentage of bodyfat keeps fluctuating up and down, but in the long run I am sure it will stagger up and down but ultiimately decline with the overall weight.

Up 2.5?

Well maybe this is a case of the body doing what the body wants to do. Since the holidays I have burned enough extra calories to lose eight pounds. According to the scale yesterday I had lost exactly that amount-like clockwork -or scalework or whatever. Today I jump up 2.5 pounds. Doesn't make a lot of sense yesterday I ate about 1000 calories less than I burned. Could be some strange blip- or maybe my body is going into starvation mode or something? We'll see what the scale says tommorrow. I could be fudging on the calorie count a bit-I think I have been pretty accurate-and given what the scale said yesterday-I was right on track. I'll stay with the course for a while-overall the numbers have been moving in the right direction.

1000 push ups in 35 days

The weight loss is starting to be noticeable. I can definately notice but Cathy asked me if I was losing weight last this week and one other person at work asked as well. Only 7 or 8 pounds down since Christmas but if it is noticeable that is the point. The 1000 push ups in a day bug has bitten me. I suppose I am taking a page out of JackBravo's book-or site as the case may be. I found some workout -I think it is Dave Duprey's workout ( printed it off -have to go back and look where the site is) that is supposed to get you ready to do 1000 push ups in less than an hour. It is a 35 day program. The daily numbers start pretty low at first, but escalate rapidly. If I stick to it I will be posting some bigger numbers. I am doing the Armstong -double your chin ups routine as well. Probably doing both is a little over kill but what the heck.Still doing weights (and sneaking in some extra push ups and chin ups) with Cathy-she is getting pretty buff.
