Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success. Dale Carnegie

I read that Randy Pausch passed away. He was the professor I mentioned in an earlier posting -famous for his " last lecture" frequently viewed on the internet. Here is a link to the story on CTV:

His " last lecture" is incredibly inspiring and worth viewing. Here is a link to the version taped on Oprah:

Anne Frank:
Then, without realizing it, you try to improve yourself at the start of each new day; of course, you achieve quite a lot in the course of time. Anyone can do this, it costs nothing and is certainly very helpful. Whoever doesn't know it must learn and find by experience that a quiet conscience makes one strong.

Making pretty good progress on the chin ups and push ups. I am going to beat the 200k mark this year -I am pretty determinded to ramp it up and exceed the 200k mark-had a number of pretty good days in terms of the number of push ups-determined to keep it going. That means i need to do a a lot of 500 push up/chin up days. That might be a little hard to accomplish with my schedule-so I am planning on trying to do some 1000 push up/chin up days to pull up the daily average. 200k here we come.

Nothing will work unless you do. Maya Angelou

I bought the book "The Power of One" off the bodyweight culture site. The book shows you how to work your way up to one armed push ups and one armed chin ups. Seemed like a reasonable goal to be able to do a one armed chin up or a one armed push ups. Right now my practice of the skills mosty looks like flopping around on the floor and falling off a chin up bar. However with practice and persistance I am sure I can do it

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

Probably not going to get a lot of push ups in today. It is our golf tournament today-big fundraiser for the house. The up side is I will get a few hours out in the fresh air golfing. Tournament is in Canmore-two hours away. So it will be early morning late night. Push ups resume tommorrow.

Walter Linn:
It is surprising what a man can do when he has to, and how little most men will do when they don't have to.

Still consistently plugging away at reaching my goal of doing a million push ups and chins.. Getting two hours of workouts in most days a week has been challenging-specifically on workdays. The last 7 days I have averged 52 minutes a day of working out, which in itself is pretty good. This weekend I will get some decent workouts in.

Margaret Chase Smith:
When people keep telling you that you can't do a thing, you kind of like to try it.

In my last post I mentioned that I was going to try to do 2 hours of working out a day. I managed to average 62 minutes of working out a day -plus on one day did 144 minutes of hiking. On the weekend it was pretty easy to get the working out done. However weekdays were a little more of a challenge. Averaging a little over a hour a day is pretty good-so I will keep working on the 2 hour a day target and see where it gets me. Going hiking with the family today so the two hour target shouldn't be a bigh problem today
