Bosu ball push ups.

My daughter and son-in -law bought me a bosu ball for my birthday, It was on back order at fitness depot for a while-but it came this week. The push ups pictured on the bosu ball above are seriously evil. It takes a little bit of talent to keep the leg right up in the air without letting it topple you over. Nice variation on the regular push up.

Chose you attitude

My oldest daughter has an expression she oftens says. Ususally during our family vacation we use Stephanies expression as a mantra. "chose your attitude" . During our summer vacation as a family we have a great time together and many memories are created. However inevitably one of us will get a little grumpy and we will wear on each others nerves a bit as people ,even family members will when they are in close quarters for an extended period. If one of us is getting a little snappy-someone else will remind them-"chose your attitude" -it usually turns the offending family member around. Yesterday I was reading Stephanie's draft of Randy Pausch's book-The LAst Lecture. I noticed beside a passage she had written. Chose your Attitude". Apparently this phrase also serves to mean not only don't be grumpy on a family vacation-but it can also mean don't stop trying when you are not meeting your goals as quick as you had intended. I have been pretty busy at work, traveling a lot and as a result not working out so much. The diet hasnt been so clean either. I was feeling a little dismayed that i was not moving as quickly towards my one million push ups goal. Time to chose my attitude. I will make my goal of one million push ups and I will workout consistently this week (event though this week has a lot of travel and work ahead).

chin up article

This months Men's Health has a pretty good article on chin ups. I think it is called Everyman's chin up guide or routine or something like that. It has a program for everyone whether you can't do a chin up or can easily do ten. For someone who can't do any chins it starts with band assisted chins ( like the photo above) or if you don't have a band you can do negative chins. The program looks pretty good. I am trying the weighted chin ups program.

If you are doing push ups you've got to try this one. Really hits the triceps and shoulders. You can do them on a basketball, volleyball or medicine ball. My push up/chin up daily numbers have been up and down a bit-but I am still getting a few in everyday.

Close to pre-holiday weight

Well weight is getting close to pre-holiday weight-which is good. Holidays are great but they really throw a routine out of joint in a hurry. Push ups/chins are going pretty good. So far this year I have added 61,197 chins/push ups to my total. That works out to an average of about 247 a day. My average has been higher at points this year but overall I am feeling pretty good about this number. Going to have to ramp it up a bit if I am going to make my goal of rounding out 200k by the end of the year-but I still think I can do it.
