Famous LaLanne-isms
- “Your waistline is your lifeline.”- “Exercise is king, nutrition is queen. Put them together and you’ve got a kingdom.”- “Better to wear out than rust out.”- “First we inspire them, then we perspire them.”- “I can’t die — it would ruin my image.”- “Your health account is like your bank account — the more you put in, the more you can take out.”- “Make haste slowly.”- “Eat right and you can’t go wrong.”
Found this link for an article about Jack Lalanne. The guy is 95-still doing push ups and swimming from Alcatraz and shit like that.Good on him.

21 day program

Still doing the perfect push ups workout one, two and three. Also the perfect pull up workouts one two and three. I think the point is to do one of the workouts, but at this point the volume doesn't seem like enough to do just one workout. Some days I do extra push ups at the end -sets of ten or 20. Worked through the 21 day program once (almost through a second time now). The regular perfect push ups are a bit harder than regular push ups-I suppose that is the point. When I started even though doing sets of 20, 30 or more push ups isn't a big deal-I could only do 10 strict perfect push ups. Twenty one days later I could do 21 strict. I am guessing at the end of this cycle my maximum will jump again.

Excuses

I started to read Steven Covey's new book, Excuses be Gone. I am about half way through. Essentially the premise of the book is that through life, learning and experience we learn all these excuses-that in some way serve a purpose for us. In the end however they get in the way of the things we want most. SO far it is an interesting read. This year I have decided to always keep a new book on the go- something that is inherently-optmistic, positive. Kind of pull yourself up by your bootstraps kind of reading.

PhysicsDiet

The charts above are off of Physicsdiet.com. The two charts represent the last 30 days. I have been using fitday-which I like -but this website has some interesting features. The top chart represents bodyfat. The cool thing about the chart is the trend line. My bodyfat percentage is up and down so much, and never really seems to go much below 20 percent, which frankly I don't like so much. The green space/triangles or whatever represent good days where my bodyfat is going down. The pinks triangles are bad-the days where I have probably eaten way more than I need.Obviously the goal is to have as much green as you can and as little pink as possible. As I mentioned before on a day to day basis my bf is so up and down you would get the impression that I wasn't doing so well-but the trend line overall shows that my bodyfat is going downward on a 30 day basis. Not so bad huh? The second graph is overall weight. Same rules apply green is good pink is bad. In general the trend is going upward, which is not really my goal. I have kept looking at this chart over the last thirty days- and it is a little depressing, but then I discovered the bodyfat chart. The two combined together suggest my weight is going up and BF is going down. If your weight is going up and your bodyfat is going down -you must me adding muscle right? Not too bad. I don't think my bones are getting a lot heavier.
By the way the website address is:

Closing in on 205k

Well I am closing in on 205k. Still want to hit a quarter million push ups and chin ups before New Years. This goal is still achievable ,but I am going to need to step it up over the next three and a half months. I am still doing the three perfect push ups workouts or the three perfect pull ups workouts each day ( as well as some additional chins and/or push ups when I am up to it). I have a board meeting tonight so I am not expecting to get in any push ups time today. Maybe I will do 75 right before I roll into bed to hit the 205k mark.

If you can do 40 dips, 20 pull ups, 50 push ups and 5 muscle ups all in 6 minutes or less you can become an honorary bar-barian- or they will bestoy upon you the title of "bar-baron".Here is the website:

Well the workouts from the perfect fitness website are pretty good. The assisted one arm push ups are hard, but ironically I find myself looking forward to them on off days. I am alternating the pull up and push ups routines (one a day). I am actually doing all three push up work outs on the push up days and all three pull up workouts on the pull up day. Call me obsessive, but the volume of just one of the workouts seems a little too low at this point.
