Tomorrow is my trip to Mexico. I am hoping to keep up the push ups and chins, but maybe not at the 1000 reps a day level. Push ups and chins have worked quite well at helping me lose weight before the trip. Most day I am doing about an hour or so of push ups and/or chins. As well as my dip/chin tower that we have in the basement -I bought a doorway chin up bar, and this has been useful in getting a few more chins in each day. The odd extra 15 or 20 minute chin up work out has burned a few extra calories and helped me log a few hundred extra chins.
