Primal Lifestyle

I have been taking it easy on the push ups and chins. Trying to keep the numbers around 200 a day and not maxing out on any one set (not going to failure on sets). My elbows were a little tender everytime I did push ups or chins -but they seem to be getting a little better. I suppose moderation is the key until the tenderness completely subsides.

I found an interesting blog on the Primal Lifestyle, The author has a three part article on how to go paleo/primal.

97 Benefits of a Primal Blueprint Lifestyle

I have my Lose It app programmed to send me an email summary of my weekly results for exercise and nutrients. This week I logged 50 minutes walking on the treadmill ( slow frequent -or in this case not so frequent cardio) 10 minutes of weight training//calisthenics ( lift heavy things) and 20 minutes of snow shoveling ( I don't think this counts as play). I am getting a little better at the "eat lots of plants and animals" thing also. Today I ate 40 grams of carbs and 158 grams of protein. Could have eaten a little more protein -but I am in the right neighborhood.
I don't know what you call people who follow the Primal Blueprint plan, "Primals?" "Grokers". Anyway here is one post from a reader (Grok er) I found on Mark's Daily apple about 97 of the benefits they had experienced following the lifestyle.

Pretty good side effects if you ask me.

I was surfing around the forum on Mark's Daily Apple and found a link to the site, for anybody who wants to try a different approach to the "Lift Heavy" days.
It is similar to a  Crossfit calesthetics day workout.

Simple Fit

I might just try it myself after 30 days on Body by Science. The workout has 8 progressive levels of difficulty you can work through.

Clearly I was spending a little too much time websurfing today, but here is one more link you might want to check out. It is a fan trailer for the 4 hour body by Tim Ferris. If you haven't read the book yet this might interest you enough to pick up a copy. It is an interesting read.

Occam's Protocol Day 25

It is day 25 on Occam's Protocol. Todays weigh in has me about 4 pounds heavier than Dec 1 for lean body mass and a little less than a pound of fat lost. Overall so far not bad results. My LeanScale app (the app the tells you if you are "trending" up or down for fat or lean) says that for the last 90 days my leanbody mass has been trending upward and I have gained 2.5 pounds of lean mass. It also says that for about the same time period my fat has been trending upward. There has been quite the variation up and down for both fat and lean mass since December 20th. I think at the end of 30 days I will graph and post the ups and downs. Clearly diet seems to have a significant effect. "Ashy" made a comment on one of my posts and suggested looking at Mark Sisson's site. He suggests that diet is responsible for over 80 % of your outcome on a program like this. His website is worth a look. There are a couple of free ebooks on the site. I might check and see if Chapter's has a copy of his book " The Primal Blueprint" looks like it is worth a read. His website is called Mark's Daily Apple:
