I noticed that crossfit had a cool cardio/ aerobics/endurance website as if the workouts on the mainpage were not enough :

www.crossfitendurance.com

I have tried a few of the workouts geared for the concept 2 rower. I don't have a rower but the crossfit faq provides an alternate exercise-sumo dealift style high pulls (now that is a mouthfull). So essentially I have been doing the c2 workouts using a barbell to do sumo dealift style high pulls or a kettlebell to do swings. I like these because I really hate running and most other types of cardio-but still at my age should be thinking about the old ticker.

Down another 4 pounds since Christmas. My calorie deficit according to fitday -doesn't quite justify this loss in pounds. I have read that the kettebells have a "high Metabolic cost" -which I am I think is a more manly way of saying the burn a lot of calories. I have been doing 20-45 minutes of kettlebells on top of my push ups and chins. Fitday doesn't have an activity code for kettlebells so I have been plugging my time in as "weight training" which I am assuming burns fewer calories than the kbs. Nonetheless they seem to be working okay. It is quite something if this little (well not so little) ball of iron with a handle -swinging it around and such could burn that many calories. Got this months copy of Men's Health and there is a picture of Lance Armstrong swinging a kettlebell. I guess if they are good enough for Lance Armstrong they are good enough for me.

I am getting close to pre-holiday weight. According to my calculations on fitday -I only seem to be burning a few hundred more calories than I am taking in but the pounds are dropping off. The kettlebells must have a higher calorie burn than I have been assuming.Fitday doesn't have a category for kettlebells-so I have been using "weightlifting" in the activity section (about 7 calories per minute). Nice surprise anyway to be dropping weight faster than expected. The bodyfat percentage doesn't seem to want to move downward. I was reading that Micheal Phelps eats something like 12,000 calories a day-if I had time to work out 5 hours I day-I could eat that much as well-wouldn't that be great.
