Lean mass going up

I was re-reading my last post and was a little down,my weight and bodyfat percentage are up. Love this LEANSCALE, I looked back to the day I started using this app (October 17th) to see how I was doing over time. Today Leanscale tells me that me I have 39.43 pounds of fat as opposed to 40.32 pounds of fat on October 17th . So if you can get over carrying around forty pounds of fat ( which you shouldn't)-you could see that I have lost a pound of fat in a couple of weeks. Not bad but not overwhelmingly impressive. However the app tells me I have 155.77 pounds of lean mass today versus 150.78 pounds on October 17th . So I gained about 5 pounds of lean mass in about two weeks or so. That is awesome. I am sure these numbers are going to fluctuate up and down a bit, and I do intend to burn off a bit of fat. However if the trend of adding lean body mass continues-I'll be happy.

If you think you can't get an adequate workout doing mainly push ups check out this video:

The graph above (fitday -weight goal graph) indicates that I am still on target for meeting my goal of reaching 185 by New Years. The squiggly line is my actual weight.Obviously there are day to day fluctuations, but basically I am trying to keep below the straight flat line. So far so good-however you can see there are a few days where I have pushed the envelope-or the line so to speak. I got a little nervous this morning when the tanita said my weight was going up,but I did the math and the drop in bodyfat percent suggests I gained 1.86 pounds of muscle and lost about a quarter of a pound of fat. Do I believe I gained almost 2 pounds of muscle overnight-well not really. Probably just one of those daily fluctuations -but it makes a pound or two gain easier to swallow.

Albert Schweitzer:
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

My one week experiment with creatine loading and 200 grams of protein a day seems to have been a success. Although as usual my weight and bf % fluctuates up and down each day, it appears I have lost 3.99 pounds of fat and gained 0.3 pounds of muscle. Not bad for less than a week.

I reached 100k of push ups and chins. This feels like a bit of a landmark- 10% of the final goal completed. Even though I have been slogging away at this for over a year-somehow reaching the 100k mark makes it feel a little more like one million is achievable. My average daily push ups/chins is up to about 277 a day so progress is coming a little quicker. This week I was off ,so was able to post some higher numbers and spend a little more time working out. Tommorrow I am back to work so I will have to work a little harder to keep posting the big numbers.

We can do anything we want to do if we stick to it long enough.

Well the scale can be full of surprises. Weighed myself this morning and I am up weight but down in percentage of bodyfat. Working out the numbers -I was at 157.21 pounds of lean mass a few days ago. Todays weigh in has me at 161.2 pounds of lean mass, up almost 4 pounds of muscle. Fat was 41.79 pounds and now is at 40.3 pounds-1.5 pounds of fat lost. Although I would like to just believe the scale I think one of two things may have caused this change. The first probability is that this is some type of random swing in my favour. Your bodyweight swings back and forth everyday-I can be 3-5 pounds heavier at night. This is why I usually weigh myself in the morning-psychologically it just seems better this way. The other possibility is that with the extra protein I have been taking in-maybe I have swung up in lean body mass. ( I am crossing my fingers on this one). It is possible that because I was taking in so little protein ( about 65 grams a day) maybe with all the push ups I was doing my body didn't have enough protein to repair the muscle damage I was doing. I have been getting at least 100 grams a protein a day now and of course a healthy dose of poor man's creatine (and trying to get more) it is possible that I have experienced some kind of rebound effect. I suppose the only way to know is to watch the scale over the next few days and see if I bounce back. Since New Years I have lost about 8 pounds -but I keep losing and gaining the last few pounds. Despite this fluctuation I have had a hard time getting below 20% bf and 200 pounds of bodyweight. Lets see what the next few days show on the old tanita
