I figured this was a pretty good time for an update as it has been a couple of weeks. I am trying to do chin ups and push ups every day but the reality is sometimes life gets a little busy. The last few days have been pretty good for numbers and consistency. I have been doing about a half hour each morning of chin ups and push ups before I go to work. I have been aiming for between 300 and 400 reps. I find that if I average about 300 chins or push ups a day- I notice a difference. When I look in the mirror I can tell that I have been working out. In the past when I have been averaging about 500 reps a day -that is when other people start to notice a difference and ask me if I have been doing something different or have been working out more. Usually in the morning I get up an make my own special concoctions. I fill a one liter drinking bottle with water and throw in some creatine and BCAAs. I sip this between super-sets of chins and push ups. If you want to know why I am using these two supplements you can click the link below and I will explain it in this video. Anyway I am going to try to average closer to 500 a day, it is nicer to notice the difference yourself- but other people making comments is kind of nice too.

Total Push ups/Chins 366,929

If you check out my other blog you will notice that I have been whining about my lack of motivation.

My motivation and progress on my goal to reach one million chins ups and/or push ups have seemed to have been on the same trendline. Last night I had to force myself to go downstairs  to the chin up bar. I knew I needed to get in at least a solid half hour of wroking out. Just get those endorphins flowing so I could get re -addicted to pushing and chinning "up". Well I did do about a half an hour. Pounded out 237 push ups and chins. Okay it takes at least three days in a row to start a pattern going again. So today I need to pound out at least 200 push ups, or chins. We have guests coming over for dinner tonight -so I need to get some of these done early in the day- so I better get moving.

Started this post a few days ago and forgot to finish it. In the name of "closure" I am going to quickly bang out the post. As I am pretty motivated to hit half a million push ups/chins by New Years, I am going to try to push the daily numbers up to 1000 push ups/ and chins a day. The last few days have been close- just need a couple hundred or so more a day- no problem

P90x two workouts down

Well so far I have tried the P90x chest and back and the shoulders and arms workout. Didn't do the plyometrics workout (kids were over for the evening so I didn't get to it). They hurt like I remember them. The chest and back workout is right up my alley-mostly different kinds of chins and push ups.I have been doing some extra push ups on the days that don't have push ups or chins in the workouts. Nothing extreme as you can tell by the numbers above. Just trying to keep the total going upwards.

Week off

total push ups/chins 165,220
Thought I would do a quick post. The chin up/push up numbers are the same as the last post. My shoulder kept hurting when I did push ups so I decided to just take a week off and see if that made a difference. It has been about 5 days since I did any push ups, chins or any kind of other exercise. Tomorrow I am going to try to jump back on the bandwagon. I haven't weighed myself in about a week. Although I haven't been doing any exercise I have still been eating as if I had been working out. We will see what the damage is tomorrow also.

Competition with Yourself

The competition is and has always been against yourself.

I posted the quote above -because I thought what else is the goal to do a million push ups and chins-but a goal against yourself. The blog keeps me honest. Can't be too many people out there reading this-but the thought that someone might be out there checking on the numbers- keep me pushing and posting.
Average daily push ups/chins per day is now at 260 per day.Still trying to drive that average up each day. The calorie deficit (calories burned over calories eaten) is a little harder to obtain when you are driving the grams of protein up-althought really eating lots of crap on the side isn't helping either. It is Saturday today so I am hoping to get in a good workout or two. We will see what kind of numbers I can get today.
